  • Our 2016 Estate Cabernet Blend was made exclusively from grapes grown on the property. It was aged for 24 months in small oak barrels and was not subject to any filters, pumps, or any other chemical additions (except a small dose of sulfur for protection). This is a complex wine that shows off berry and floral aromatics encapsulated in a lovely structure with fine grained tannins. On the palate, the wine showcases notes of leather, currants, eucalyptus, mint, lavender, chocolate, pepper, and vanilla. It has the classic structure and a long layered finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure from now well through 2030.

  • Matthew Gibson Winery - 2013 Estate Nebbiolo

    (only ±190 acres grown in California)
    Our 2016 Estate Nebbiolo was made exclusively from grapes grown on the property. It was aged for 24 months in small oak barrels and was not subject to any filters, pumps, or any other chemical additions (except a small dose of sulfur for protection). It was then aged for another 24 months in the bottle before release. This is a classic Nebbiolo reminiscent of Northern Italian Barolos or Barbarescos. On the nose and palate are classic flavors of rose petals, cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and pepper. On the finish there are soft chalky tannins that will leave you surprised. This is a great wine that will last for decades. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure from now well through 2035.

It was then aged for another 24 months in the bottle before release. On the palate, the wine showcases wonderful brambly berry notes of spice, lavender, chocolate, and white pepper. This is all encapsulated in wonderful earth tones and elegant tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure from now well through 2028.
